What is business size?

Business size is a classification for limited companies and sole traders. There are four options with the following definitions:

  1. Micro‍—‌employs fewer than 10 people and their annual turnover and/or annual balance sheet does not exceed €2m
  2. Small‍—‌employs fewer than 50 people and their annual turnover and/or annual balance sheet does not exceed €10m
  3. Medium‍—‌employs fewer than 250 people and their annual turnover does not exceed €50m, and/or an annual balance sheet does not exceed €43m
  4. Large‍—‌any organisation above the medium threshold
