Can I opt out of Confirmation of Payee?

Confirmation of Payee (CoP) helps to prevent UK payments being sent to the wrong account and provides another layer of protection in the fight against fraud and scams. As such, opting out of CoP is only available in limited circumstances where it is needed to protect an account holder.

You or your customers may be able to opt out of CoP when someone is sending money to one of your Griffin accounts. For outbound payments, CoP is always used in the Griffin app; over the API, we strongly recommend running a CoP check before you pay someone new.

If you would like to opt out, please reach out to support@griffin.com, stating the reason for your request. If one of your customers would like to opt out, please reach out to us with the reason for their request and their account ID.

Please note, opting out of CoP means that when someone tries to send you a payment, their check will come back as a "no match" because the account can't be verified. This may prevent them from making the payment.

You can opt back into CoP at any time.
